Notable Works

Alexander's defining legacy was the conquest of the Achaemenid (Persian) Empire and the subsequent spread of Greek language, architecture, and thought, which initiated the Hellenistic Period. He established over 70 new cities across his 2 million square mile empire, most notably Alexandria in Egypt, which grew into a thriving global capital of trade, scholarship, and culture. His campaigns fundamentally shifted the borders of the ancient world, laying the long-term socioeconomic foundations that later paved the way for the rise of the Roman Empire
